CURSED DOWNLOADS examines the software layer of early internet life: music players, peer-to-peer clients, desktop companions, browser toolbars, and helpful utilities that were often helpful in the same way a raccoon inside your walls is helpful. Winamp made digital music feel customizable and alive. LimeWire promised one song and sometimes delivered a mislabeled file plus several new computer problems. BonziBuddy arrived as a friendly purple assistant while raising extremely reasonable questions about privacy and judgment. These programs shaped how people listened, shared, customized, and accidentally destroyed the family computer. The archive does not pretend unsafe software still runs locally. Where original runtimes are unavailable, it presents preserved records and external sources instead. Download nothing. Remember everything.
